UK Warns of AI-Powered Cyber Attacks on Critical Infrastructure

Kriminalci and countries like China and Russia are increasingly using AI to conduct cyber attacks, warned Richard Horne, head of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

AI can be used to develop malicious programs that lock computer systems and demand ransom for their release, Horne said.

The NCSC has identified a significant number of security vulnerabilities in various systems, including those used in the UK’s power grid, water treatment plants, and transportation systems.
