A hacking incident on European supermarkets’ refrigeration systems has highlighted the vulnerability of IT security. Professor Jens Myrup Pedersen, a cybersecurity expert at Aarhus University, has repeated his warning about the need for improvement. The professor was not surprised when he heard about the hacking incidents on refrigerators and freezers in European supermarkets.
The professor was in a meeting when his phone rang three times, and he immediately knew what it was about. He thought to himself, ‘Okay, it’s crazy again. And it was crazy again.’
