National Grid Reaches Deal to Open Way for Data Center
Utility signs agreement to buy land for large substation in UK
National Grid has signed an agreement to acquire over 70 acres of land at Dorman Point in the Teesside area, which is owned by Teesworks, a local public-private partnership.
The utility has plans to build a large substation that will provide power to a nearby data center, which is likely to become one of the largest in Europe.
The competition for the site in Teesside is expected to lead to a decision on investment with a preferred partner in the coming months.
