Multiple European Supermarkets Hit by Refrigeration System Hacks

Refrigeration systems in several European supermarkets have been compromised by hackers.

The hacks, which were reported in Sweden, Estonia, Belgium, Ireland, and Luxembourg, as well as in Denmark, have not resulted in significant disruptions to operations, according to officials. The Danish Security and Integrity Agency has advised Danish retailers to review their refrigeration systems. The agency has identified five Danish companies that have been affected by the hacks, but they have been able to quickly remove the hackers from their systems. The hacks are believed to have been carried out by exploiting vulnerabilities in older refrigeration systems that are connected to the internet. The systems were installed by manufacturers such as Danfoss, which has confirmed that some of its systems have been affected. The hacks have raised concerns about the security of food supply chains in Europe.
