Castilla y León's Data Center Project Exempts 200 Million Euros in Taxes

Five municipalities in Zamora will lose 200 million euros in tax revenue due to a data center project.

The project, which is being processed as a Regional Project, will exempt the company from paying the ICIO, a tax on constructions, installations, and works, which is levied by the municipality where the work is carried out.

The tax exemption is due to the fact that the company does not need a municipal license for the works, and therefore the municipality does not generate the taxable event.

The project has been replicated in other regions, including Aragón, where it has been used to exempt companies from paying taxes on constructions and installations.
