Business-critical keys require responsibility at management level

A digital service can stop working without an attacker being present, it can be enough that a certificate has expired to get the business to a standstill. Behind customer portals, payments and systems are cryptographic keys and certificates that must work for the business to continue.

The leadership needs to know which keys the business is dependent on, who is responsible for them, and which applications consume them, regardless of whether they open the door to the office or give customers or personnel access to the company’s services.

A clear responsibility and a common overview are necessary to prioritize risks and act before a forgotten certificate becomes a business problem.
