US data center construction growth forecast to continue despite growing opposition.
The US data center construction boom is showing no signs of slowing down, despite growing opposition from local communities. According to a report from Goldman Sachs, US data center capacity is expected to grow 38% year-over-year to 64GW by the end of 2023, up from a previous forecast of 59GW. This growth is expected to continue through 2027, with a projected capacity of 90GW.
