Despite overall decline, AI security engineer and network security data scientist roles see significant growth in demand.

The report, published by CyberSN, shows that despite a 26.4% decline in overall cybersecurity job postings in 2026, AI-related roles are seeing significant growth. The report analyzed data from the recruitment platform JobSpikr and categorized job postings using CyberSN’s cybersecurity job classification system. The system covers 10 categories and 45 job functions, allowing for a more accurate representation of job market trends.

According to the report, AI security engineer job postings saw a 268.3% increase, while network security data scientist job postings saw a 203.5% increase. This growth is attributed to the increasing demand for AI skills in the industry.

The report also highlights the decline of traditional cybersecurity roles, with internal threat analyst job postings seeing a 55.6% decline, followed by network risk analyst, penetration tester, and CISO job postings.
