UN Initiative Aims to Encourage Women to Work in Cybersecurity

Only 24% of the sector has female specialists, prompting a partnership between UN Women and the Global Cybersecurity Forum to encourage 6 million women and girls to pursue digital leadership.

The initiative aims to address the shortage of talent in the rapidly expanding field of cybersecurity, which is essential for modern economies and societies.

According to the UN, 16% of cybersecurity teams have no women on their staff, and girls are often discouraged from developing digital and technological skills from an early age.

The partnership aligns with the UN’s Beijing+30 Action Agenda, the CSW67 conclusions, and the UN’s Global Digital Pact, which aim to include women in the protection and development of the digital environment.
