South African Department Seeks Replacement for Vulnerable Housing Subsidy System
The Department of Human Settlements is looking for a new system to manage housing subsidies and beneficiary administration due to the current system's unreliability and vulnerability to manipulation.
The current Housing Subsidy System has become increasingly inadequate for the department’s requirements, with issues including project progress tracking, beneficiary lists, and housing allocations.
The new system, National Digital Human Settlements Management System, is intended to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability, and will automate housing application processing, eligibility verification, and allocation processes.
The system will also incorporate emerging technologies such as near-real-time satellite imagery and artificial intelligence capabilities to support document analysis and anomaly detection.
