Social Jetlag Increases Preference for AI Over Human Evaluation

A recent study found that people experiencing social jetlag are more likely to prefer AI evaluation over human evaluation.

A recent study published in the Computers in Human Behavior journal found that social jetlag can increase the likelihood of preferring AI evaluation over human evaluation. The study involved four online experiments where participants were asked to evaluate their attractiveness or suitability for a job, with or without social jetlag. The results showed that participants with social jetlag were more likely to prefer AI evaluation, with a 73% preference rate in one experiment compared to 58.8% in a control group. The study suggests that the underlying reason for this preference is the fear of being judged or evaluated by humans, which is exacerbated by social jetlag. This fear can lead to a preference for AI evaluation, which is perceived as more objective and less personal. The study has implications for the use of AI in evaluation and decision-making processes, particularly in areas where personal biases can have significant consequences.
