Slovenia First to Use AI Agent for Online Purchase
Slovenia has conducted the first real-world transaction using an AI agent to purchase an experience in New York.
The transaction was conducted in a production environment, with the AI agent communicating with the merchant’s agent to verify availability and finalize the details.
The user, Luka Gabrovšek, director of Mastercard Slovenia, used the Mastercard chatbot to request a recommendation for a New York experience, and the AI agent suggested a coffee tasting, which Gabrovšek accepted.
The transaction was completed with the AI agent communicating with the merchant’s agent to finalize the payment, using a digital token to replace the actual credit card number.
