Samsung Galaxy Phones Limit Charging to Extend Battery Life
Battery Protection intentionally limits charging to prolong the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries.
Modern lithium-ion batteries experience physical and chemical stress when held at maximum capacity for extended periods. Samsung developed Battery Protection to mitigate this stress. The feature offers three modes: Basic, Maximum, and Sleep Time Protection.
Basic mode allows the battery to reach 100% and then halts charging, while Maximum mode sets a hard limit between 80% and 95%. Sleep Time Protection is an adaptive setting that learns daily usage habits.
You can toggle Battery Protection on or off and adjust its aggression levels directly in device settings. The recommended mode depends on your charging habits and daily routine.
