S&P 500 and Nasdaq Reach New Records on AI-Driven Gains
Tech stocks, particularly those in AI, drive Wall Street gains as investors look past inflation concerns.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices closed at new highs on Wall Street, driven by gains in tech stocks, particularly those in artificial intelligence. The S&P 500 rose 0.58%, closing at 7,818.93, while the Nasdaq gained 0.45%, reaching a new high of 27,599.79. The tech sector was led by companies such as Nvidia, Marvell Technology, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), which saw significant gains due to investor optimism about their prospects. Nvidia’s market capitalization is approaching $6 trillion.
Investors are looking past concerns about inflation, particularly in oil and diesel prices, and are focusing on the potential for AI-driven growth. “Everyone says the markets are rising. AI is where you want to be,” said Steven Colan, head of investments at Integrated Financial Partners.
The Fed’s upcoming interest rate decision is also on investors’ minds, with many expecting it to provide more clarity on the central bank’s plans. The S&P 500 is expected to see a 25% increase in earnings for the third quarter, according to Bloomberg Intelligence data.
