Russian Yandex Data Center Damaged in Ukrainian Drone Attack
Yandex data center in Kaluga, southwest of Moscow, was hit by Ukrainian drones.
The Russian tech giant Yandex said its data center was hit by drones in a Ukrainian attack in Kaluga, southwest of Moscow. Several modules were completely taken out of service, and some services may have had disruptions in operation, Yandex said on social media. The company added that there were no casualties in the attack. This is the second Yandex data center to be targeted in the past two days, after a facility in Sasovo, in the Ryazan region, was hit in an attack that caused a fire and halted operations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday that Ukraine ‘always responds symmetrically’ to Russian attacks. ‘They’ve been hitting and continue to hit our data centers. We’ve retaliated,’ Zelensky added.
