RETN Opens New Subsea Route Between Taipei and Hong Kong
The new route aims to reduce the risk of underwater cable disruptions and meet growing demand for data-intensive workloads.
The new subsea route is one of six serving Taiwan, with four connecting Taipei and Hong Kong, and two linking Taipei and Tokyo.
The route is designed to address recurring subsea disruptions and support growing demand for data-intensive workloads such as artificial intelligence, cloud, and high-performance computing.
Taiwan’s international connectivity relies heavily on subsea cables, which creates exposure to risks such as concentration, ageing cables, natural hazards, and fishing activities.
