The new labs in Prague’s Podolí use AI to speed up water quality analysis, processing over 50,000 samples annually. The labs are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including the Interscience Scan 5000, which uses AI to count microorganism colonies. This helps to reduce the time it takes to analyze water samples, with results available in hours rather than days.
The labs also use traditional methods, such as PCR, to detect viruses and bacteria. However, the AI-assisted analysis is seen as a major improvement, allowing for more detailed and accurate results.
The new labs are a significant upgrade from the previous facilities on Vinohrady, which were renovated at a cost of 151.3 million Czech koruna. The labs are designed to minimize contamination, with separate areas for chemical, microbiological, and biological samples.
