OpenAI CEO Changes Mind on AI Risks

Sam Altman now believes that some bad things must happen in exchange for AI benefits

In an interview with Politico, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that the world should accept some bad things happening in exchange for the benefits of AI. This marks a shift in his position on the risks of AI, which he had previously agreed to slow down to better assess.

Altman’s change of heart comes after he had initially supported the idea of slowing down AI development, proposed by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.

Altman now believes that creating rules to control the sector would be a ‘compromised and unacceptable’ responsibility for companies.
