NCC Raises Alarm Over AI-Powered Cyber Attacks Targeting Critical National Infrastructure

The NCC has issued an urgent warning over the escalating threat of artificial intelligence-driven cyberattacks targeting Nigeria’s Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII).

Traditional defense mechanisms are often unable to match the speed and scale of AI-assisted exploits, which can identify architectural weaknesses and launch tailored phishing, social engineering, and system intrusions within seconds.

The commission emphasized that network security is no longer an isolated technical matter, but a foundational pillar of national defense and civil order.
