Most Dutch People Want EU to Play Active Role in Cybersecurity
87% of Dutch people think the EU should play a more active role in increasing the cybersecurity of companies and government organizations.
The survey, conducted by KPMG, found that 87% of respondents believe the EU should take a more active role in increasing the cybersecurity of companies and government organizations. This is in line with the idea that cybersecurity is a public responsibility, not just an internal matter for organizations. Respondents also expressed concerns about the transparency of organizations and governments regarding the use of AI in processing personal data.
A significant majority of respondents, 78%, believe that there should be strict rules for the use of AI and algorithms by companies and governments. Only 26% of respondents trust that organizations are transparent about how they use AI in processing personal data.
The survey found that trust in technology is not a given, and people expect organizations to be open about their use of technology, take responsibility for cybersecurity, and be able to demonstrate that personal data is well protected.
