Microsoft CEO Calls for Global AI Safety Rules
Microsoft CEO Brad Smith says companies developing advanced AI models should have a 'brake for emergency situations' to slow or stop the system if its behavior becomes dangerous.
Microsoft CEO Brad Smith has called for the immediate introduction of global safety rules for artificial intelligence, warning that today even ordinary products like washing machines and milk are subject to stricter safety rules and controls than advanced AI systems.
Smith says companies developing advanced AI models should have a ‘brake for emergency situations’ to slow or stop the system if its behavior becomes dangerous.
He also proposes a mandatory reporting of incidents and the ability to quickly shut down AI systems if they start behaving in an unintended or uncontrolled way.
