Japanese Residents Sue to Stop Tokyo Data Center Development
Residents in Tokyo's Omiya city are suing to stop a massive data center development due to concerns over fire risks and environmental impact.
The development, led by Japanese GLP, involves the construction of eight data centers and three logistics facilities on a 58.8-hectare site near Omiya station.
Residents have been concerned about the project since its announcement in 2022, citing increased traffic, noise, and loss of green spaces.
The lawsuit, filed by the GLP Omiya Development Injunction Litigation Group, seeks to halt the development and requires the court to issue an injunction to prevent the construction of the data centers and logistics facilities.
