Investor Concerns Over AI Investments Weigh on Data Center and Cloud Shares

Concerns over AI investment returns led to a decline in shares of Dell, HPE, Oracle, and CoreWeave.

Dell, HPE, and NetApp shares fell by 11%, 8%, and 7% respectively after Barclays analysts downgraded their ratings, citing uncertainty over when corporate customers will increase their AI investments.

The decline in shares was not limited to these companies, with Oracle and CoreWeave shares also falling by 9% and 15% respectively.

Gartner analyst Will Sommer warned that the planned capital expenditures may not be enough to cover the planned revenue from corporate and consumer AI, with the sector requiring 6 trillion dollars in investments over the next few years.
