IIJ to Provide Power to Disaster Evacuation Centers with Data Center Battery
IIJ has partnered with Matsue City to provide power to disaster evacuation centers using a large-capacity battery system at its Matsue Data Center Park.
The battery system, with a capacity of 1741 kWh and an output of 200 kW, and a 50 kW rapid charging device for electric vehicles, will be installed at the data center.
The power will be used to charge electric vehicles, which will then supply power to two public halls designated as evacuation centers, providing approximately 2 days’ worth of power.
The battery will be charged using solar power generated at the data center, which is typically used for backup power for data center equipment such as lighting.
