HK Police Criticize Apple for Failing to Implement 3D-Secure
HK police received over 110 reports of credit card misuse linked to iPhone Duo pre-sale transactions, with losses totaling HK$4.6 million.
The police advised Apple multiple times to implement 3D-Secure to verify online credit card payments, but Apple failed to activate it during the pre-sale.
The force was highly concerned that Apple has not actively fulfilled its corporate responsibilities, which fraudsters exploited.
The case has been classified as “obtaining property by deception” and involved multiple banks.
