Google's 13 Billion Euro AI Data Center in Finland Faces Environmental Concerns

Google's AI data center project in Finland worth 13 billion euros faces criticism over environmental concerns.

The project, announced in September, involves building a data center and purchasing nuclear-generated energy. However, the company allegedly cleared around 300 hectares of forest before local authorities completed all procedures.

The Finnish Nature Conservation Association has raised concerns that the project may harm local wildlife and bird species. The association claims that Google did not wait for the environmental impact assessment to be completed before clearing the land.

The case is being investigated by the LVV, which is responsible for issuing permits related to environmental impact and overseeing projects like Google’s.
