GMO Confirms Use of ARTEX AI Penetration Tool in Attacks on Japanese Companies
GMO Cybersecurity confirms use of ARTEX AI penetration tool in attacks on approximately 20 Japanese companies.
GMO Cybersecurity has confirmed the use of ARTEX, an AI-powered penetration testing tool, in attacks on approximately 20 Japanese companies. The tool was used in a single infrastructure, with the companies targeted including 9 from the same industry. GMO believes that the attacks are part of a targeted campaign, focusing on specific industries and countries.
In addition to the initial findings, GMO discovered six more AI-powered attack infrastructures targeting Japanese companies. The companies targeted by these attacks include digital gift and retail, education and gift printing, and insurance and finance.
GMO has shared its findings with law enforcement and notes that eight of the targeted companies had previously announced information leaks in September and October of this year. However, the company emphasizes that the use of ARTEX does not necessarily mean that all 20 companies were successfully breached or that information leaks occurred.
