Global AI-related debt issuance drops sharply in September
Global AI-related debt issuance fell to $23 billion in September, down from $44 billion in August.
According to Morgan Stanley data, the global issuance of debt related to AI fell to $23 billion in September, down from $44 billion in August. This decline is a sign that investors are taking a step back to reassess the risks of the sector after months of unbridled borrowing.
The new funding has been decreasing steadily since the market peaked in June, with companies tapping the record $113 billion to pay for critical infrastructure for new technology. Notably, in the US high-yield bond market, where large tech companies borrowed around $306 billion between January and August, AI-related debt issuance came to a complete halt last month.
