France Delays NIS2 Cybersecurity Law Again
France has delayed the implementation of the NIS2 cybersecurity law, which was expected to be voted on this week.
The delay is due to a crowded parliamentary agenda and a dispute over encryption, with some lawmakers opposing a provision that would allow authorities to access encrypted messages.
The NIS2 law is intended to transpose a European Union directive that requires organizations to protect themselves against cyberattacks and notify authorities within 24 hours of an incident.
The delay is the latest in a series of setbacks for the law, which was first proposed in 2024 and was expected to be implemented by October 2024.
