Finnish Authorities Halt Construction of Two Google Data Centers
Finnish authorities have suspended the construction of two Google data centers due to environmental concerns.
The Finnish authorities have ordered the suspension of the construction of two Google data centers in Muhos and Kajaani, following reports of widespread deforestation.
The construction of the data centers has seen over 1,800 acres of land cleared, roads built, and waterways altered without environmental impact assessments.
Google has acknowledged that it fell short of its own high standards and has committed to following Finnish guidelines, including replanting 130 hectares of land in Muhos.
