EU Experts Warn of Critical Cybersecurity Risks in Solar Panel Installations
EU experts identify high-risk scenarios in solar panel installations, including attacks via cloud platforms and backdoors.
The Smart Energy Expert Group (SEEG) has published a report highlighting critical cybersecurity risks in solar panel installations across Europe. The group analyzed four installation categories and identified three high-risk scenarios, including attacks via cloud platforms and the introduction of backdoors by manufacturers on behalf of states. The report warns that attackers could potentially control enough inverter capacity to destabilize the European electricity grid, with a critical threshold of 3,000 megawatts.
