Enterprise AI Adoption Still in Its Infancy, Says BBD Executive
Most teams have only had broad access to modern generative AI for a couple of years, with maturity showing up as 'pockets of excellence'.
AI adoption inside large organisations still feels early, even though the hype is loud. Most teams have only had broad access to modern generative AI for a couple of years, so maturity shows up as “pockets of excellence” rather than a consistent enterprise capability.
A practical way to approach AI strategy is the buy, build or boost decision: buying off-the-shelf software, building custom engineering and integration, or boosting existing platforms with integrations or an abstraction layer.
The biggest friction appears when teams move from a great demo to a production-grade system, with governance and security controls not yet adapted to the pace of AI change.
