Data Center Late Fees Hit $5 Million or More Per Day, Spawning New Insurance
Data center developers are facing massive late fees, prompting the creation of new insurance policies.
This spring, Mike Mathews, who leads the global digital infrastructure practice at insurance broker Marsh, raced to design a policy to protect a data center developer from a $1 million-a-day late fee.
The policy was created in response to a growing trend of late fees associated with data center development, which can reach $5 million or more per day, according to Mathews.
