Colombian Model Denounces Unauthorized Use of Her Image in AI-Generated Avatars
A Colombian model accuses a Mexican producer of using her image to create AI-generated avatars for luxury brands in Europe and the US.
The model, Akima, claims the producer, Mauricio Sierra, created six to seven avatars using variations of her face without her consent.
Sierra justified the creation of the avatars by saying he couldn’t find similar faces in the world, but Akima sees this as a form of racial appropriation.
The model is exploring legal action in the US and Europe to determine her options for addressing the unauthorized use of her image.
