Chinese AI video models surpass US rivals in visual quality
Chinese AI video models have outperformed US rivals in visual quality, but lag in safety precautions, a study found.
ByteDance’s Seedance 2.0 Pro took the top spot in a ranking of 12 leading AI video-generation models, scoring 3.84 out of 5 for visual quality.
It outperformed Google DeepMind’s Veo 3.1 and OpenAI’s Sora 2 Pro, maintaining its lead when audio capabilities were factored in.
The study, led by Zhenhui Jack Jiang, found that several Chinese models fell behind in safety precautions, ranking only sixth out of 11 for blocking harmful content.
