China Expands Synthetic Diamond Production for AI Server and Chip Markets
China, which dominates global synthetic diamond production, aims to increase market share in AI server and chip industries.
China is shifting its synthetic diamond industry from the jewelry market to a key material for advanced technologies, including semiconductors, AI server heat sinks, and quantum technologies, amidst intense competition and falling prices due to excess production capacity.
Chinese producers control around half of global synthetic diamond production, with Hebei Province being a major production base, accounting for 80% of domestic production.
This shift could increase China’s strategic importance in the technology supply chain and make it a key player in the technology competition between China and the US.
