Canadian Organizations Spend More on Cybersecurity, But Fewer Believe It's Enough
Despite increased budgets, only 67% of Canadian organizations believe their investment is sufficient to keep pace with threats.
The survey found that 76% of Canadian organizations increased their cybersecurity budgets over the past year, but only 67% believe their investment is sufficient to keep pace with threats. This confidence is down from 74% in 2025. The share of organizations operating with annual IT budgets below $50,000 more than doubled, rising from 11% to 23%.
The survey reflects the increasing challenges faced by security teams, including more threats, greater complexity, and higher expectations. Organizations are prioritizing sustainable security capabilities, specialized expertise, and Canadian-based cybersecurity operations.
Digital sovereignty is becoming a procurement priority, with 91% of organizations saying it matters that cyber records are stored and processed in Canada and 89% saying it matters that a vendor is Canadian-owned, headquartered, or operating here.
