Canadian cybersecurity executive arrested by FBI in hacking case
Edward Dubrovsky, a 54-year-old Canadian, was detained in Philadelphia and charged with conspiracy to extort money.
The FBI says it is working to dismantle the ShinyHunters group, which has conducted dozens of data breaches since 2019, including a hack of an FBI database earlier this year.
Dubrovsky has worked as an executive at numerous cybersecurity firms, including CYPFER, a global cybersecurity firm based in Miami, Fla., with offices in Toronto.
He has been credited with helping thousands of clients recover from cyberattacks and has written a book about cyberextortion and strategies for managing a ransomware crisis.
