Canadian Author's Book Removed from Goncourt List Due to AI Detection
A Canadian author's book was removed from the Goncourt list after an AI detector suggested it was written by a machine.
The book, ‘C’tait ça ou mourir’, had already won the French Prix du Roman Fnac and was planned for translation into over 20 languages.
The AI detector, Pangram, evaluated the book with 95% probability as being written by artificial intelligence, not the Canadian-Haitian author Thélyson Orélien.
Orélien argues that the AI-like constructions in his text are due to his writing style, which is inspired by Haitian linguistic rhythms.
