BlackRock CEO Warns of Economic Downturn if Data Center Construction is Halted

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink warns that halting data center construction in the US could lead to economic downturn.

BlackRock’s CEO Larry Fink has sounded the alarm on halting data center construction in the US, warning that it could lead to economic downturn. Fink stated that the majority of the US economy is closely tied to data center investments. According to a Pew Research Center survey, 54% of Americans believe that data centers have a negative impact on the environment, 50% on household energy costs, and 49% on the quality of life for nearby residents.

Fink argued that most concerns about data center expansion are based on misinformation, stating that data centers are not the problem. He claimed that data centers create jobs by generating demand for construction workers, energy infrastructure, and hardware for AI processing.
