Artificial Intelligence Discovers Origin of Controversial Cryptographic Curves
Most modern online traffic relies on elliptic curve cryptography, allowing users to prove ownership of a private key without revealing it
Artificial intelligence has discovered the origin of a set of cryptographic curves that have been at the center of a controversy in the cryptographic community.
The curves, known as the Curve25519 and Curve448, were developed by a researcher named Daniel J. Bernstein in 2006 and 2015, respectively, but their origins were unclear until now.
