Apple Unveils HomeView Smart-Home Hub with Upgraded Siri AI
Apple's $299 HomeView hub showcases Siri AI, but analysts question its competitiveness in a crowded market.
The HomeView, a 7-inch screen device with face recognition, will help users control doorbells, thermostats, and smart locks, but analysts say Apple’s AI assistant needs to deliver more meaningful benefits beyond basic voice commands.
Apple has partnered with LG and Schneider Electric to design and manufacture accessories for the HomeView, a move that suggests a shift in its typical approach to hardware sales.
The HomeView will not be sold in the EU due to EU regulations regarding Siri AI availability, but will be available in South Africa and other countries next month.
