Amazon Unveils Bee AI Devices for Capturing Conversations
Amazon introduces two new Bee devices that turn conversations into summaries, reminders, and tasks, raising concerns about privacy and consent.
The Bee devices, which include a wearable and a smartphone attachment, use AI to transform conversations into useful information, such as reminders and to-do lists. They can also connect to productivity tools and Amazon’s shopping ecosystem. The devices are designed to help users remember information from meetings, conversations, and everyday interactions.
The Bee devices use AI to process ambient audio in real-time, identifying information worth retaining. Transcripts are encrypted using keys created and controlled by the user’s device, preventing Amazon from accessing them unless users choose to share their information.
Amazon is offering basic conversation summaries and recaps without an additional subscription fee, while a paid plan, Bee Pro, includes expanded capabilities and integrations with Amazon.com and Alexa+.
