Amazon Drops Northern VA Data Center Plan
Amazon has abandoned plans to build a data center on a former college campus in Northern Virginia.
The $427 million acquisition of a George Washington University campus is being repurposed for mixed-use development.
The campus, which spans 26 acres, was purchased by Amazon in April 2026, with plans to convert it into a data center campus. However, the company has now decided to pursue a different use for the site, opting for a mixed-use development instead.
