Alphabet's Q3 Results Disappoint, Raising Fears of Losing Ground in AI
Alphabet's Q3 results show a 10% drop in share price, with concerns about Google's performance in search and advertising.
The results of Alphabet’s third quarter have reignited concerns on Wall Street about the massive cost of its AI race. The company’s parent, Google, disappointed investors with its performance in search and advertising, while its commitments to future expenses continue to rise.
The share price of Alphabet fell by 10% in post-conference trading on Wednesday, following the announcement of its third-quarter results. According to Bloomberg, the data intensifies fears that Google is losing ground to its competitors in AI, despite investing heavily in technology.
The company’s total revenue, excluding payments to partners, was $111.2 billion, lower than analysts’ estimates. The advertising revenue from its search engine and related activities also failed to meet expectations, growing at a slower rate than in the previous five quarters.
