Alliant targets 1 GW of new data-center contracts in six months
Alliant Energy anticipates signing contracts for 1 gigawatt of additional data-center demand within six months.
The expected demand surge is due to rising AI usage and increasing electrification, causing record-high electricity consumption.
Alliant has already contracted with Alphabet’s Google, Meta Platforms and Blackstone-backed QTS Data Centers for 3.4 GW of data-center demand.
The additional 1 GW is expected to begin ramping up between 2029 and 2031, with related investments spread across the company’s current planning horizon and beyond.
