AI discovers software vulnerabilities at a rate far exceeding enterprise repair capabilities, driving industry growth

The rapid discovery of software vulnerabilities by AI has outpaced the ability of enterprises to repair them, leading to a surge in network security spending and industry growth.

The use of AI in network security is changing the supply and demand dynamics of the industry. With the emergence of new AI models, such as Anthropic’s Mythos, enterprises are facing a significant increase in the number of potential security threats they must address.

According to Epoch AI’s data, the number of high-risk software vulnerabilities reported in August and September alone exceeded the total number reported in 2025. These vulnerabilities pose a significant threat to enterprise sensitive data and critical systems, increasing the workload of security teams.

In response to the growing number of software vulnerabilities and network attack risks, large enterprises are increasing their network security investments. For example, a US bank plans to hire 1,000 contract workers to use AI tools like Anthropic’s Myths to repair software security vulnerabilities.
